Bronwyn and Damian’s Engagement

I love meeting couples for the first time after chatting to them over email. It is always so much fun to meet them in person and watch how they interact with each other. I met Bronwyn and Damian for the first time when we got together for their engagement shoot. They are both a little shy but have the most fun together. They are so excited about their future together and I can’t wait to be part of their wedding day.

My season in black and white

As I head into the new wedding season this weekend, I have decided to put together a few of my favorite images from the past wedding season. I absolutely adore black and white images and so have decided to use those only for this collection. I enjoyed looking back on the season so much, I really am so grateful for all the wonderful couples I have had the privilege of photographing.

The Clarke Family

I really do love this style of family shoot. It captures real life, day to day family life and I really enjoy that real aspect. Kids don’t pose! So you have to just follow them around and work to their schedule :)

Sarah-Jane and I were in high school together and it was such a great experience for me to join her and Bruce and their boys at home for an afternoon. Little Jude is just the sweetest guy, so easy and happy and full of smiles.

Thank you for having me and letting me play Lego with Troy!

Claudia and Paul

Claudia and Paul’s big day was the last wedding of my season, and it was the absolute best way to end off! It was a perfect winter’s day in Stellenbosch, the light was just too amazing and they are such a beautiful couple inside and out. I was in photography heaven!

They chose Bakenhof as their venue where the whole day unfolded. Claudia was a calm bride during her preparations while Paul was showing signs of nervous excitement. His friends were on hand to keep him laughing and make sure he had just enough whiskey!

The ceremony was emotional and so precious, each look they shared was so filled with love and excitement. We then went off for the photo session. The bridal party kept me laughing from start to finish, sharing Paul’s fishing stories and teasing each other about their golf scores. I had such fun with them! Once I got Claudia and Paul alone the mood softened and they just embraced each other. Paul really doesn’t like being in photos but he did such a good job with his new wife. I am so excited about the results.

The beautiful reception just capped off this perfect day. I did a lot of laughing and shed a few tears behind my camera listening to the speeches. The dancing was just all out fun, I love seeing guests just getting up and going for it! It really was just such a perfect way to celebrate these two, their family and friends around them laughing and dancing the night away.

Claudia, you are such a beautiful, gentle person and I can see how much you love your husband. Paul, the joker, but the steadfast, dependable husband who your wife. You two are a match made in heaven. Keep looking at each other the way you did you on your wedding day and keep holding hands. I wish you so much love and happiness. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your most special day.

Alta and Deon

I had the pleasure of meeting with Alta and Deon twice before their wedding day. Both are soft spoken and very kind, they told me all they wanted was a simple wedding without the fuss and that is exactly what they planned. A morning wedding with close family and friends, simple elegant decor and true happiness between husband and wife.

When I arrived at Langkloof Roses early on the morning of the wedding, both bride and groom were calm and at peace. Alta transformed into a Hollywood movie star, step aside Anne Hathaway! Her dress was breathtaking on her and her choice of hair and make-up complimented her look so well. She was such a calm bride with nerves and excitement setting in just before walking down the aisle. Deon was there waiting to take her hand as they started their life together.

We had a wonderful couple session and were so blessed with gorgeous light despite the time of day we were out. They were so lost in each other which makes a photographers job SO easy! At times I actually think they forgot I was there :) We had some good laughs and I just love the results.

They shared a delicious lunch with their guests before spending time chatting to everyone and talking about the day.

Thank you to Alta and Deon for allowing me to be a part of your day. You have a beautiful love and I wish you happiness for your life together forever.

Mubeena and Ziyaad

I introduce to you Mr and Mrs Parker, one of the most attractive couples ever!! They are like something out of a magazine :)

I met with Ziyaad before the wedding to chat about the day. He was a wonderfully involved groom and gave me all the information I needed to ensure things ran smoothly. I met Mubeena on the morning of their wedding before she left for Mosque and she was immediately welcoming, warm and friendly. As I spent more of the day with them I can see how Ziyaad brings out a less shy side of her, he is the joker and she responds to him so well. Their couples pictures were a breeze to shoot, they were comfortable with one another and just laughed and chatted the whole way though. I really could have worked with them for hours.

Their reception was attended by many friends and family and I enjoyed hearing stories about each of them during the speeches.

Thank you again to you both for having me spend this day with you. I enjoyed being part of your lives for that short amount of time and getting to know you a little. You are both such genuine and loving people and I know your future is going to be wonderful. I wish you all the love in the world for now and forever.

Meghan and Shane

An American bride and a South African groom who met in the UK, introducing Meghan and Shane!!!

This was a wedding day filled with such excitement. It was about celebrating the start of Meghan and Shane’s journey together as well as about catching up with old friends and making new ones. Their guests were from all over the world but everyone got along fabulously! Everyone was there for one reason, to see the happy couple say “I Do”

The festivities took place at Monkey Valley in Noordhoek. Most of the guests spent the entire weekend at the venue so by the time Saturday evening arrived the atmosphere was just joyous. They were treated to a gorgeous Cape Town sunset while enjoying their pre-drinks. This was followed by the most entertaining speeches and a very special slide show detailing the couple’s lives. Followed up by a good South African meal and lots of dancing! The couple made use of both American and South African traditions which I really loved.

To Meghan and Shane, thank you so much for allowing me to capture this day for you and for working with me so wonderfully. This is just the start of your adventures together. I hope you settle well is the USA and life as Mr and Mrs gets off to a flying start.

Andrea and Kyle

Another one of my dancing girls got married!! I am blessed to have been able to shoot the wedding of Andrea and her man Kyle.

The chose Eureka as their venue and it was such a fun day. It was a busy afternoon of Andrea’s preparations surrounded by bridesmaids and moms. Their was lots of laughter and silliness which is just how Andrea is! She transformed from the jeans and sneakers girl into the most beautiful bride, it was emotional and so exciting.

They exchanged vows in a local church and then went on to the venue where the guests enjoyed canapes and drinks while we did their photos. I had such fun with the bridal party before taking the happy couple off for some portraits. We caught some magical sunshine in a field behind the venue where Andrea changed into her trusty Converse All Stars! A girl after my own heart!

The reception continued into the night, heart felt speeches and lots of dancing. It was a true celebration of this wonderful couple.

Thank you Mr and Mrs van der Boon for allowing me to be part of your day. Lots of love to you both, may your relationship continue to grow along with your little family.

Talana and Thomas

I really loved this DIY wedding! It was so full of fun and laughter and everything was so personal and real. This is how weddings should be!

Talana and Thomas were married at Thomas’ family home in Hout Bay. There was no sit down dinner, no formal proceedings, just friends and family joining together to celebrate this amazing couple.

We had great fun during their photo session where we were joined by their bridal party. These two adore each other so much and it shows so evidently in their couples pictures. Couples like this are a dream to photograph.

The rest of the evening was casual and fun. The garden was transformed into a magical space that was so welcoming. There was food and dancing and so much laughter.

Thank you Talana and Thomas for having me be part of this day. I enjoyed it so much and I am so glad that I got to meet you both. I wish you so much love together (along with kitty!) now and for always.

Jenny and Paul

Jenny and Paul made the decision to get married at their home with just their nearest and dearest present. Jenny did the most amazing job putting together this DIY wedding. Paul is from the USA and his family was represented by their family tree made up of black and white images of each family member. I loved this idea of bringing two families together.

It was a gorgeous summer morning and Jenny and Paul exchanged vows at the DIY ceremony site. The guests were then treated to delicious coffee and cookies while we went off to take some photos. A reception site was set up in their back yard where the guests got to hear special stories about the couple and share in a wonderful meal.

Thank you Jenny and Paul for having me capture this day for you. I hope the memories live forever along with your love for one another.
